At the Kiwanis Club of Traverse City meeting held on Tuesday, April 22, Wendy Gauthier, Immediate Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Club of Traverse City, presented the Kiwanis Club with an “Honor Our Flag” certification. The certificate was awarded to Marc Judge, Co-chair of the Flag Project, in recognition of the Club’s continued dedication to honoring the American flag through their annual Flag Project.
This certification acknowledges the Kiwanis Club for “participating in services that bring honor and respect to our American Flag,” a core mission of the Elks Club.
Now in its 12th year, the Kiwanis Club’s Flag Project involves planting and harvesting approximately 300 American flags across eight locations in Traverse City on four patriotic holidays: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day. The project is funded by community sponsors, with all proceeds supporting children's programs and initiatives in the greater Traverse City area.
The Kiwanis Club of Traverse City is currently seeking new sponsors for the upcoming year. Information about the Flag Project and how to get involved can be found at www.kiwaniscluboftraversecity.org.
The Traverse City Kiwanis Clubs are part of a global organization dedicated to serving the needs of children. Through their partnerships with other Kiwanis Family Members, they continue to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in the community.
