A global destination for artists and arts enthusiasts, Interlochen Center for the Arts nurtures creativity through five dynamic platforms: Interlochen Arts Camp, the renowned summer arts program; Interlochen Arts Academy, the nation’s premier fine arts boarding high school; Interlochen Presents, a producer of more than 600 annual performances by internationally celebrated guest artists, Interlochen students, and faculty; Interlochen Public Radio, two listener-supported, 24-hour public radio stations (classical music and news); and Interlochen College of Creative Arts, a convener for lifelong learning in the arts.
This is a Full Time Year Round position that will provide nursing care for boarding high school students aged 14-19 years during the school year and for camp students aged 8-19 during the summer with a variety of health needs ranging from minor illnesses and injuries, to chronic illnesses such as asthma and diabetes. We are looking for a 2nd shift candidate with working hours from 3 pm - 11 pm.
Essential Duties:
Work with a team consisting of Healthcare Providers, Nurses, Health Assistants, and administrative staff to care for students.
Administer medications to students.
Evaluate students who present to Health Services.
Assess patients and make sound Nursing judgments within your scope of practice.
Communicate effectively with students/parents and other stakeholders both on and off campus.
Document visits of students to the Health Center. Learn and master the electronic EMR system and document appropriately.
Respond to on-campus urgent and emergent situations.
Understand and abide by HIPAA & FERPA Regulations.
Work as a team player. This includes but is not limited to clerical duties, obtaining meals for patients, cleaning a patient's room, changing linens, etc.
Perform assessments, make decisions about dispensing OTC medications per protocol, consult with providers as needed, draw labs (training provided), and perform other duties as required to serve the population.
Monitor patients who are admitted to the Health Services for observation and overnight care.
Provide Accurate nursing judgments.
Identify when a patient requires an advanced level of treatment. ie.. Nurse Practitioner, Urgent Care, or Emergency Department.
Seeks the best use of materials, equipment, and staff to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
Comply with ICA policies/procedures and act as a good steward of ICA finances.
Demonstrate respect for cultural, ethnic, spiritual, and linguistic diversity and values, including differences in personal goals, lifestyle choices, and varying family backgrounds and histories.
Prioritize duties in a manner consistent with organizational objectives and growth.
Participate in activities outside of the department to foster Community.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a standard medical office environment with extensive internal and external stakeholder contact.
Required Skills and Experience:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing school required
Experience:
Previous work in a school setting preferred but not required
2 years of clinical experience preferred.
Pediatric/Adolescent assessment skills preferred
Equipment Familiarity:
Mac OS, Google Suite, Gmail
Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:
Current Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan required
Current BLS Certification from the American Heart Association is required
Must meet and maintain background screening requirements as detailed in policy 12.HR.01 Pre-Employment and Employee Background Checks.
Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the eligibility requirements of ICA’s insurance carrier (for all positions requiring driving).
